Esirom Entertainment Sponsors St. Hugh’s Prep robotics team on historic world stage

Esirom Entertainment, Jamaica’s provider of diverse entertainment experiences, announces their proud sponsorship of the St. Hugh’s Preparatory School robotics team, “Robo Swans,” on their journey to the World Robot Olympiad (WRO) finals in Izmir, Türkiye, from November 28-30, 2024.

The Robo Swans, a team of three brilliant grade 5 students, secured a historic victory at the Jamaican WRO National Championship in March. Their achievement earned them a coveted spot to compete against international teams, showcasing their exceptional skills in creativity, problem-solving, and robotics.

“At Esirom Entertainment, our tagline is ‘happy made here’,” says Abigail Williams, Brand Manager. “We are passionate about fostering joy and opportunity for all Jamaicans, especially our future generations. Sponsoring the Robo Swans aligns perfectly with our mission, as they represent the innovative spirit and bright future of Jamaica.”

Esirom Entertainment’s contribution of $200,000 JMD will equip the Robo Swans and their coaches with the necessary tools and materials for enhanced practice sessions, as well as essential gear for the international competition.

“We are incredibly grateful for Esirom Entertainment’s support,” says a representative from St. Hugh’s Preparatory School. “Their contribution will be instrumental in ensuring our students have the best possible experience at the WRO finals. We are confident they will make Jamaica proud.”

Their success serves as an inspiration to young Jamaicans and their participation underscores the nation’s ability to nurture first-class talent, providing that brilliance knows no boundaries. It is a testament to their hard work and ingenuity but also a celebration of Jamaica’s growing presence in global innovation.

The World Robot Olympiad is a non-profit organisation dedicated to promoting robotics in STEM education worldwide. The annual competition challenges young minds to develop their creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills through engaging robotics challenges. This year’s theme, “Earth Allies,” focuses on using robotics for environmental sustainability.
